Patriots fall to Texans, 34-27
The New England Patriots build a lead only to see it fumbled away by the reserves in a 34-27 loss to the Houston Texans.
Unfortunately, the Patriots did not remove their starters in time to avoid a catastrophic knee injury to one of their best players.
Wide receiver Wes Welker’s knee gave out as he tried to put a juke move on a defender, and he was carted off the field.
Welker suffered a tear of his MCL and ACL, and his season is finished. It is a huge blow to New England’s Super Bowl hopes.
Despite the loss, New England still clinched the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and will host the Baltimore Ravens in the first round.
