Bodden out for season

The New England Patriots have placed cornerback Leigh Bodden on injured reserve, knocking him out for the season.

It’s a pretty devastating blow to the the Patriots, who don’t exactly have a lot of depth in the secondary. They will now have to rely on a second-year player and a rookie to be their starters in the defensive backfield.

For a New England team that struggled on defense last season, this is certainly anything but welcome news. Bodden started 14 games last year, tying for the team lead with 5 interceptions and had 17 pass deflections.

Welker ready for training camp

The New England Patriots delivered surprising news to the media this weekend: Wide receive Wes Welker will be ready to start training camp with the team.

Welker, who is recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee, had been expected to miss the start of the season. But he has recovered well ahead of schedule, with the Patriots saying he’ll be able to participate in all drills, including ones with contact. ( Read More…)
